Yamoussoukro is the capital of the Ivory Coast, in West Africa. It is located inland, in the North-West of
the economic and cultural center of the country, the coastal city of Abidjan.
The city is famous for the imposing Basilica of our Lady of peace, with its stained glass windows and its dome
dominating the building. The city is the birthplace of the president Félix Houphouët-Boigny, who worked in the 20th
century, and including the old palace was with a lagoon filled with crocodiles.
